Comprehensive Dental Care in Sylacauga, AL

This page is a map of everything offered at Southern Smiles of Sylacauga, organized by the kind of care you may need. The practice is led by Dr. Rick Redmond, who built it around listening first and treating patients like neighbors. Advanced services that usually mean a trip to the city, like IV sedation and implant placement, are handled right here, so families can get the care they need close to home.

Patients travel to the office from across the region, some driving an hour or more from communities around Lay Lake, Roanoke, and the Birmingham area. New patients of every age are welcome, from a child’s first visit through care for adults and seniors, including those coming back to the dentist after years away.

Preventive & General Dentistry

Regular care is the foundation of a healthy smile, and the practice makes it easy for the whole family to stay on track. Checkups and cleanings catch small problems before they grow, while screenings and custom guards protect long-term health.

Restorative Dentistry

When teeth are damaged, worn, or missing, restorative dentistry brings back comfort and function so you can eat and speak with ease. All of it happens in one familiar office, without referrals across town.

Cosmetic Dentistry

A confident smile changes how you feel in everyday moments, from family photos to a night out with friends. Cosmetic care is shaped around the result you have in mind, for a smile that looks natural and feels like your own.

Orthodontics / Clear Aligners

Straightening your teeth does not have to mean a mouth full of metal. Clear aligners offer a discreet, removable way for teens and adults to improve alignment and bite on their own schedule.

Implant Dentistry / Prosthodontics

Missing teeth affect how you eat, speak, and smile, and there is more than one way to replace them. Implant placement is handled right here in Sylacauga by a doctor who completed a comprehensive implant residency.

Oral Surgery

Some situations call for removing a tooth, whether from damage, infection, or crowding. Because no oral surgeons travel to Sylacauga, having extractions done in-office spares patients a drive to Birmingham or Montgomery.

Emergency Dentistry

A toothache, broken tooth, or sudden injury cannot wait for a routine appointment. The practice makes room for urgent problems and offers same-day care when it is needed.

Specialty / Additional

Beyond everyday dentistry, the practice offers care that many general offices send elsewhere, all under one roof in a single, familiar place.

About Dr. Rick Redmond and the Care You Will Receive

Southern Smiles of Sylacauga is led by Dr. Rick Redmond, DMD, who has practiced dentistry for over 33 years. He earned his dental degree at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham, completed a residency in hospital dentistry, and finished a Comprehensive Implant Residency Program. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Alabama Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Redmond took over the practice from his uncle, Dr. Hollis, who opened the Sylacauga office in 1952, and he still cares for families who first came through those doors generations ago. His approach starts with listening, because the right treatment begins with understanding what a patient is going through.

A lot of patients come in and say they were at another office and just were not listened to. Instead of taking an X-ray and diving in, I want to hear the patient’s story first.

Finding the Right Care for You

Not sure where to begin? If you are overdue for a checkup, start with Preventive & General Dentistry. If you are in pain or have broken a tooth, go straight to Emergency Dentistry. If you are missing teeth or struggling with dentures, look at Implant Dentistry. And if fear or anxiety has kept you away from the dentist, Sedation Dentistry, including IV sedation, can make treatment comfortable.

You do not have to know the name of the treatment you need. Tell the team what is bothering you or what you hope to change, and you will be met where you are, without judgment.
